We will pick you up either from Khiva Train Station or your hotel within Khiva to begin our day trip. You have the flexibility to start the excursion at any time convenient for you. Typically, it’s recommended to begin in the morning after breakfast or in the afternoon post-lunch, as it’s a half-day trip.
Our journey starts with a scenic 20-minute drive from Khiva to our first destination, Chodra Hauli – Khan’s Summer Residence, situated on the east side of Khiva. Built in 1871 by Muhammad Rakhim Khan, this four-story, 30-meter building is distinctive for its minaret-like design, standing on a relatively small base of 16m x 8m. The residence includes a basement with storage rooms and two warehouses, while the first and second floors feature spacious rooms.
Next on our itinerary is the Yangiariq Poetry Center, where you can observe traditional ceramic-making processes and purchase various ceramic products as souvenirs or home decorations.
The highlight of our day is a visit to the Salty Lake – Kalajik Lake, nestled amidst desert landscapes near the ancient fortress of Kalajik Kala, dating back to the 4th century BC. Legends attribute its construction to a figure from history, possibly linked to Solomon honoring his father, David. The lake’s water composition resembles that of the Dead Sea and is known for its therapeutic properties. Surrounding sand dunes are also famed for their beneficial qualities. During the summer, hundreds of visitors enjoy therapeutic swims, sand baths, camel safaris, and horseback rides daily.
After our time at Kalajik Kala, we will embark on a scenic 90-minute drive back to Khiva. Upon conclusion of the trip, we will drop you off at your hotel or the train station, maintaining the same affordable price for our services.
