Flexible Start Time

The tour can start at any time you want, with pick-up from your location (hotel, airport, or train station). We highly recommend the following option:

• Morning (08:00 / 09:00): Start after breakfast and explore the fortresses in the fresh morning air.

Route

• Departure – Picked up from your location in Khiva or Urgench (1.5-2 hrs to the first fortress)
• Kizil Kala: An ancient red fortress that once protected the oasis.
• Toprak Kala: Explore the fascinating ruins of a 2,000-year-old royal palace.
• Akcha Lake: A beautiful blue lake in the desert. Perfect for a lunch and photo stop.
• Kavat Kala: A vast and imposing fortress that once commanded the ancient caravan routes along the Amu Darya.
• Ayaz Kala: The largest fortress, located on a hill. Great for climbing and watching the sunset.
• Big Kirkkiz Kala: A striking double-walled fortress shrouded in legend, its name echoing the nomadic tribes who once roamed these desert plains.
• Return – Back to Khiva or Urgench.
